There have been a few changes to the London Plan...

For starters it's not good to think about cool stuff you want to do when you're feeling down.  :(  I'm down in the dumps cos I have to wait until the 18th of December for my last dentist appointment.   *sigh*

So to cheer myself up I'm thinking of the places I want to visit when I get to London.  I hadn't thought it out initially but these are a few places I'd definitely like to go to.

Top Shop - I really like the clothes they sell there.  Maybe I'll get my first London winter coat from there?  (Wishful thinking...)

White Cube Gallery

Serpentine Gallery

And somewhere to have
Afternoon Tea

Thanks for your advice Sue, I also enabled comments from all peoples, so you can comment away from now on.  Glad to know you're reading my lj.  We'll have to hook up in London some time.   : )   xo

Hey, sweetie! I'm actually on lj, just not on your flist (but you're on mine).

Have you worked out your London accommodation yet? A friend just reported she stayed at the Holland Park YHA and it was very nice. Centralish (South Kensington), and a helluva lot cheaper than hotels.

I'll put my thinking cap on about places to go see, although if I knew what you were interested in I could help better. Probably unfortunately, my recent trips to London have involved meeting friends, doing fannish location tours and touring the odd museum, not much cutting edge art or fashion.

Lol, I can't believe kiwisue is YOU. I had no idea, sorry I'll put ye back on my list. I think you added me once and didn' t say who you were so I just didn't ask? Sorry about that. Thanks so much for the info.

You a fangirl. That's so cute, but I remember all the memrobilia well. Your little flat used to be packed. It would be an idea to visit your new place, though it's not so new. I think I'm more focused on London at the moment, so would prefer to meet you there. Isn't that weird? What's wrong with me? Anyway, I'll try to post more about where and what I'm interested in so I can get more help, cos God knows I need it from someone who either lives there or has been there.

Oh and no, haven't worked out the accommodation yet, have to get a solid date on getting there first. We have the money but not the time currently. So annoying. I'll post more details later.

Thanks so much for your comment.

Hee! You didn't have a header post for comments from people who wanted to be added to your flist, so I probably thought I'd see you in RL soonish (sadly not the case).

I've been something of a fangirl for years (Babylon 5, Buffy) but about 4 years ago "The Professionals" took my breath away and I simply haven't recovered. Am very happy though - it's a slash fandom (don't know if you're familiar with the term) and I love the writing and the people.

I understand that very well. I'm looking at a UK trip in late May next year, dates to be firmed up once I know for certain when a fannish event is happening.

I know you've been a fangirl for ages. THere are all different types though. I am familiar with all the terms that are used to describe all the different things that fangirls do and are etc. I'm a fan but just not crazy. I don't consider you in the same category as the girls I'm really disappointed by. I've even written some fanfic myself.

I don't know the professionals.

May huh? I can see us sharing some Afternoon Tea around that time, but hopefully I'll be there sooner. :)

We could share a virtual Afternoon Tea *g*. It would probably be inappropriate for you to open up a laptop in Brown's (if you go there), but if you posted your Afternoon Tea experience from London it would be a little like being there.

I don't consider you in the same category as the girls I'm really disappointed by.

Maybe because I'm more into classic fandoms (SF and Old School)? I read hints of weird fan behaviour from Harry Potter, Supernatural and bandslash and I get embarrassed, really.

I don't know the professionals.

The Professionals, let me show you them

Lol, I'm sure I'll be blogging a lot about my experiences in London when I get there.

When it comes to, "fangirls," I'm talking about girls who lose themselves and sometimes their identities through being a fan. There's also the loss of reality part that concerns me. You're a strong woman with striking individuality. I have learnt a lot from your example over the years. Thanks.

Had a quick look at the Professionals. *grin* Sorry not my cup of tea. That's ok, we wont fight over them. :)

Pretty much what I meant without going into examples (& I really didn't mean to slag off fans of those shows, but older fandoms are a lot more stable, at least these days).

You're a strong woman with striking individuality. I have learnt a lot from your example over the years. Thanks.
Aw shucks *g*. Thank you.

"Aw shucks *g*. Thank you."

No seriously, thank you for being such an amazing, intelligent, strong and forthright woman. You do some incredibly brave things someitmes, that most of us wouldn't dare dream of doing or implementing.

I should also thank you properly for letting me stay at your place when I made that move to Sydney. You and Spike put up with my crap and took care of me. I would never have learnt all those great lessons and would never have met Tony. Now I have the most amazing life and some of it's thanks to you. I'm grateful.

Top Shop is awesome, basically all of Oxford St is great, be sure to wander the side streets too though, lots of lovely litle shops all through Soho and Covent Garden too.

I think you need to add Camden market to that list though. =D

When are you planning on being in London?

Sounds great, will have to look up the details of this Camden Market thingy. I seriously need a map, I don't know where any of the places are that you've mentioned.

I was planning to be there Feb next year, but not sure now. Will let everyone know when I'm going to go though. :)

Thanks

Just remembered one you might like: Gay's the Word. Friends of mine go there quite often.

Now there's some advice you can't get from a brochure. Cheers.

I'm also interested in visiting:

Raw Food Cafe's

Theatres

More Galleries

I don't know where the Groovy shops are... You know Gothic and silver jewellery places...

I also want to visit at least one castle on my first visit.

Can't think of anything else right now.

I just found this site : http://www.camdenlock.net/

It has just about everything I was interested in finding. There's a really cool shop called, "Rockit," that I definitely have to visit while I'm there and a jewellery store called, "Celtic Dawn."

*lol* I didn't mention Camden markets because someone had already done so, but I've been there! I went last year with a friend & found it very nice. We had a meal on the decking outside a pub that overlooks the lock.

Unfortunately my friend's journal entry that talks about our visit is flocked, but another friend went in 2005 (it's a very well known shoooting location for 'The Professionals' and people go there for that reason alone *g*). And she bought a silver Celtic bracelet too!

Sounds wonderful. So far it reminds me a little of Newtown. It's all seeming a little more real now. It's terrible when you know you want to do something but you don't know how to go about it etc.
